Big servers have an important power consumption (read the deliverable wattage on your server power: ~400 W or more).

This consumption is maintained 24/7 even if your office is closed, since we cannot easily cold boot the servers every morning...

What's more, by staying powered up, and as soon as they are solicited, the electronic components of these servers warm up and then need a powerful air conditioning (a server room is regulated at ~16-18°C) and sometimes even a dustproof system ("white room") for demanding IT.

Humidity is also regulated, and an expensive system based on UPS and batteries is often necessary, since servers do not support well power failures.
